Ever wonder how they shoot a high-budget bondage flick? This 40-plus minute documentary with Komukai Minako, star of Hana to Hebi 3, provides an interesting behind-the-scenes look at the making of the film. Arisue Go can also be seen in several shots. He wasn't actually in the film this time around but was the chief on-set nawashi.

I can't seem to embed the video here but clicking on the above image will take you to the website where the video is hosted. Hopefully you'll have better luck but the sound was way out of sync when I watched.

This, of course, is very connected to the man who recently passed away, Dan Oniroku, as he was the author of the novel that inspired this series of films.

NawaPedia is an online encyclopedia of Japanese bondage and related kinky activities. It is the English sister site of SMpedia which is in Japanese. The founder of SMpedia also set up NawaPedia in order to get this hard-to-come-by information out to a much larger audience.

I took it upon myself to help out with this project so I set up a Group at FetLife called NawaPedia Fan. There is a lot of great information accumulating at SMpedia and the goal is to get as much of it as possible translated into English for NawaPedia.

And so we are putting out the call for volunteer translators -- people who are able to read and write Japanese who would be willing to lend a hand with this project. If you're literate in Nihongo and think you might be able to help, contact me by leaving a private comment here at the blog. Alternatively, you can go to NawaPedia and use the email contact there or get in touch at the NawaPedia Fan Group on FetLife.

Someone asked me what the difference was between NawaPedia and that other famous online encyclopedia. The main difference is that NawaPedia will be much more comprehensive. While you will find information on the really big names of Japanese SM at the other place, nothing at all can be found there on lesser-known, yet important, figures. In addition, all the information is in one place at NawaPedia and very easy to find.

The London Festival of the Art of Japanese Bondage will be totally unique. We are keen to promote kinbaku (aka shibari/Japanese rope bondage) as an artistic inspiration, a performance art in its own right and as a means of erotic communication, whilst sharing knowledge about it and its cultural context.

Spring is just around the corner and that means we'll soon be welcoming the cherry blossoms. But that's not all we'll be welcoming.

A pair of Western riggers will be showing up in Japan in the not-too-distant future. They'll be arriving with a couple of blonde, blue-eyed babes, ready to sit under the trees with a bottle of sake and contemplate the beauty of the sakura.

When they're not doing the hanami thing, they'll be studying for their Ph.Ds in kinbaku with various masters around town. Esinem and Electric Fairie will be coming from London while Mark and Lani will fly in from Sydney.

Esinem and Electric Fairie will arrive towards the end of March and start things out in Osaka. Mark and Lani will come straight to Tokyo a bit later. Although I believe their trips were planned independently, I'm pretty sure their paths will cross at some point in Tokyo.

Both of these gentlemen are showmen at heart so I wouldn't be surprised if they wind up putting on some performances while here. In fact, I thought this was such a good idea I whipped up some cyber posters (see left sidebar) to get the word out a bit. For anyone interested, their contact details are on the posters. They can be reached through this blog as well.

Both Esinem and Mark are serious students of kinbaku. They like to do things the right way. That's why they come to Japan to learn how it's really done. This isn't the first time they've traveled to Japan and I'm sure it won't be the last. But the time and effort they've already put into learning this art has certainly paid off.
