Direct from London

esinem blog 2

Hello, everybody. I'd like to say how pleased I am to be helping KabukiJoe in this new endeavour. Knowing what I do of this dirty old (gentle)man's writings, I can see this being the place to keep your finger on the pulse of what's hot on the scene.

Firstly, let me introduce myself. I'm a bondage artist and teacher from London, a well-known figure on the scene...or maybe just notorious, since I think I am considered to be something of a "rigger in the woodpile" due to my outspoken and often mischievous posts on certain forums. I met KJ through Osada Steve on one of my trips to Japan to take kinbaku lessons and we have kept in touch since. I won't bore you with my full biography, but if you want to find out more, it's all on my site.

How to Make an SM Movie (That Doesn't Suck)

2009-02-1

Suffice it to say I've seen a lot of bondage flicks. Most were, at best, so-so. A lot were simply garbage. Very few were classic. Very, very few.

I have a simple goal. I want to create very good SM movies. I feel the same way about my photography. Recently I've been mesmerized by the work of Sugiura Norio. He is one of the, if not the, premiere bondage photographers in the world. His work is marvelous, especially his older stuff when he was shooting film. Digital is nice if you like that really clean look. The resolution is there but folks, it ain't film.

The same thing goes for video.

Now, personally, I can't afford movie film. But I love the look of film. I've even seriously considered the idea of shooting something in 8mm -- just to get that bitchin' film look. But 8mm seems quite grainy to me. And even with 8mm, the cost is exorbitant.

What's in a Name?

detmag

"A rose by any other name..." etc., etc.

I've moved everything over from the SadoMondo site to this one which has the SM Detective name in the URL.

I still kind of like the SadoMondo name. Been using it for years. But something about SM Detective just grabs me. I guess it all started when I was a kid and saw those cock-throbbing detective magazine covers at the store. In those days, they'd show covers of scantily-clad women, bound and gagged and in peril, right out in the open. I'm dating myself, to be sure.

I also recall seeing a paperback of King Kong with a nearly naked girl on the cover, tied with her arms and legs wide apart, awaiting the arrival of the beast.

The Naked Hairdresser, Part II

hotel

As promised, here's the video of the lovely young hairdresser as referenced in the previous post.

The Naked Hairdresser

I met her in Tokyo 10 years ago. She said she was a hairdresser which, given the number of these establishments around town, is completely plausible. Personally, I never pay over 1,000 yen to get my hair cut. Always comes out the same way whether I pay 1,000 or 5,000 yen. I'm sure she worked at one of those high-class joints -- the kind I would never go to.

So we hooked up in a love hotel instead. This one had a bondage room, if you could call it that. It seems to me it was geared toward the crowd into vanilla "love bondage" or whatever the fuck they call it these days. I don't know. She took me there and I was happy to go along.

She was drop-dead gorgeous. Lovely face, beautiful skin, perfect body. I put her into a hogtie, and then some.

Think I've got a video around here somewhere. I'll see what I can do.

Live Bondage Show in Tokyo

banned2

Here's one I had all but forgotten about.

Frankly, I am surprised it has stayed on YouTube for as long as it has. Over 40,000 views and counting.

This was shot in a part of Tokyo called Azabu Juban. From what I hear, this is a rather upscale area. The event is called Tokyo Decadance (intentional misspelling, presumably). It seemed to be mostly a fetish event with people prancing around in outlandish outfits and a DJ. To my mind, the only interesting part was the shibari performance put on by Osada Steve and Asagi Ageha.

The Story Behind Cheap Thrills

cheappic

It seems like a long time ago now. In fact, it was a long time ago. 2003 to be exact.

This was my first video and it was definitely a learning experience. I shot it with two cameras in the no staff style of filmmaking meaning, for most of the time, there was no dedicated cameraman. I had someone in mind but he was unable to come through at the last minute.
